Loriene Roy

Dr. Loriene Roy is Professor in the School of Information, the University of Texas at Austin (UT-Austin).  She is also a Faculty Affiliate with the UT-Austin Center for Women’s and Gender Studies, College of Education, Department of Curriculum & Instruction, and Native American and Indigenous Studies and is a 2012 – 2014 Adjunct Professor, School of Information Management, Victoria University of Wellington. She currently convenes the SIG on Indigenous Matters for IFLA, is Senior Trustee for the LeRoy Merritt Humanitarian Fund, and Chair-Elect for the International Relations Round Table of the American Library Association (ALA).

She has given over 500 formal presentations and published widely. Her teaching areas are public librarianship, reference, library instruction, reader’s advisory and indigenous library services. She was President of ALA (2007 – 2008) and President of the American Indian Library Association (1997 – 2008). She is Anishinabe, enrolled on the White Earth Reservation, a member of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe.
